I don’t have to say much about this place because you already know. You’ve been there, you’ve seen a show, you’ve danced with your shirt off, you’ve bumped into an old girlfriend who’s now dating the drummer from [insert band-of-the-moment] and you’ve thrown up your Brooklyn Lager.
It’s ok. We’ve all been there.
There’s an annoying bunch of people from Greenpoint who started a kickball league and if you’re into that, then join! Other than that, there are baseball fields, a music venue and green spaces to hang out with your friends, drinking Brooklyn beer.
In July, the park will be hosting the Breeders (for free) and also a sunset flick -Red Hot American Summer – outdoors. This summer, construction plans move the music venue to the Williamsburg Waterfront (btw No. 8th and No. 9th) and out of the decades old crumbling pool. So, out with the old and in with the new.
McCarren Park is in Greenpoint, near Lorimer and No. 12th.
